BMW has been working very hard on electric vehicles of late -- although it's also been working on hydrogen vehicles for some time.

For a long while, its hydrogen vehicles were internal combustion engine prototypes, burning hydrogen in the combustion chamber. Now it has unveiled its latest hydrogen fuel cell technology -- developed in collaboration with Toyota. Unlike Toyota, however, BMW seems less convinced of the future of H2 vehicles - at least for now.

Here's what we learned from the new prototypes, and how we feel they stack up to battery electric vehicles.
