David Ellsworth, woodturning artist par excellence, returns to Lancaster Area Woodturners weekly coffee hour. Today David explains how he develops - not designs - natural edge bowls. David approaches each block of wood as an artistic exploration that reveals its hidden truth. His techniques include changing the center mount as new features reveal themselves. These bowls are sawn and turned from winter-felled wood. David hand-sands off the lathe but does not apply any finish. The bowls retain a bark edge and the wood glows with inner life.
