When you hear the name Rob Swift, the moniker Dr. Butcher follows shortly after. Dr. Butcher, aka Andrew Venable aka Drew aka Drew Daddy, has been a huge influence on me as a DJ but more importantly as a human being.

Up until I met Drew, summer of 1990, my goal as a DJ was to be as good as the DJs I looked up to. I was so wrapped up in what the DJ gods of this art were or weren’t doing back then that it directly impacted my own personal growth. I literally couldn't see the forest for the trees. It took the DJ I idolized the most, Dr. Butcher, to tell me "...idolize NO DJ." He’d say “Respect them but know YOU have an energy inside your person that’s ready to be tapped into. If you spend your time thinking “such and such” is the best, you’re getting in your own way of becoming the best.” It took Drew to believe in me for me to believe in myself.

On September 17th Drew will be celebrating the anniversary of his arrival on this planet. I dunno about Drew but I, for one, plan on starting the celebration early.
