Exploring Gravity Hill - Sylmar, CA

Gravity Hill in Sylmar, CA is an urban legend handed down from generation to generation in the San Fernando Valley.

Like most 'Gravity Hills' in the world, there is a story behind it: the children buried in the graveyard were killed in a bus crash on the hill years ago and now push your car up it, leaving handprints.

We took a friend to Gravity Hill on a cold evening in January. Though we forgot to check the back of our car before we went... some of the prints are too small to be ours.

We very quickly had to head to the local bar known as THE HIDEAWAY to calm our nerves... and shoot some pool.

A gravity hill, also known as a magnetic hill, mystery hill, mystery spot or gravity road, is said to be a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces an optical illusion, making a slight downhill slope appear to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill against gravity.

Our level proved it to be a hill and we certainly did roll.
