"Oracle Offering is the solo project of one Dawn Marna, one half of down tempo psyche blues duo Cursillistas, though to me this solo project is the more interesting work. Oracle Offerings music is filled with haunting drawn-out vocals whispered low and incoherently, warm guitars echoing slowly through washes of ambient noise and Witch Housian delay. It’s slow and psychedelic with a lot of vocal led touches, long moaning exhalations starting off tracks with witch like screeches and layers of reverb drenched lyrics. I’m not sure if you can label it Neo-folk, but it has that lo-fi dark quality, gently clunking acoustic guitars and imagery that reside in an analogue, nature based, world. It’s timeless in a way that means it’s ancient; you want your caveman ancestors to have listened to this while preparing sacrifices to the god of winter. 'Please god of winter, be kind upon our small tribe, listen to our song of reverence and wonder and let the caribou herds come early this year.' Wrap up in furs and listen without electric light as washes of songs with title such as 'Virgins of the Sun' or 'A New Dawn For Satan' drift over the air like a heady incense. This is music for quiet rainy afternoons, drinking mint tea out of cracked cups, while lying on the vintage Moroccan rugs, crystals and animals skulls placed around you in a circle. Perhaps unsurprisingly Oracle Offering comes from Oregon."
