When Swedish Health Services in Seattle, Washington needed a way to keep surgery operations running while building a new hospital tower, they turned to RAD Modular for a fast and innovative solution.

Using factory-fabricated modular construction, RAD designed and delivered a 12,000 sq ft, two-story modular sterile processing facility that allowed Swedish to continue surgical operations without interruption.

While the structure was being built off-site, RAD worked closely with the healthcare team to select and install sterile processing equipment — including autoclaves, washers, and decontamination systems — ensuring the space was operational the moment it arrived on campus.

The project was completed in just 100 days and connects directly to the hospital’s surgical suite with separate clean and soiled entrances. Inside, the facility features:

Three elevators

Decontamination and clean holding areas

Prep and pack spaces

Workroom, break room, and locker room

Through RAD’s Operating Lease Program, Swedish avoided using capital funds and kept financing outside the traditional hospital capital budgeting cycle, maintaining flexibility while staying on schedule for the new hospital tower.
