Inbox Review: Airfix 1/72 Douglas Boston III Model Kit

Inbox review of the Airfix Douglas Boston Mk.III in 1/72 scale, as released by Hornby in 2008.



This kit was originally released by Airfix in the early 1960s and as such is definitely showing its age. Some of the parts are not of high quality and display some of the typical hallmarks of kits of the era, such as rivets, raised panel lines and lack of interior detail. The wings and fuselage fit is reportedly also problematic.


The decals supplied are of reasonable quality and allow you to model one of three versions: an RAF, SAAF or USAAF machine.


Despite its limitations, like all Airfix kits of this vintage, it will have nostalgic value for many people and no doubt will at least build up to a reasonably presentable model with a bit of work. This edition was the last release of the kit.
