My Season 13 Playlist on my channel includes ground videos from my summer visits to the nest pasture. There are also four ground videos from early summer (after the cams went off for Season 12), in my Season 12 Playlist. Here are the playlist links, if interested:
Season 13: • SWFL Eagles Season 13
Season 12: • SWFEC Season 12 2023/2024
Video opens with F23 just getting started on a feeding for the E's. She begins watching to the N. An intruder flies in, circles the nest tree, and lands on an upper branch. F23 vocalizes warnings from the nest while protecting the E's. M15 flies in less than ninety seconds after the intruder arrived. M15 is carrying rabbit prey as he flies in and circles to the S side of the nest to enter. The intruder follows M15 as he circles to the S. M15 lands, and the intruder flies over the nest/nest tree, leaving cam view heading NW. M15 moves to the attic, then flies to the E. M15 returns to the nest tree, landing on the treetop branch.
There is one brief sibling rivalry moment in this video, when E24 pecks E25 after the feeding stopped. This may have been the result of the feeding abruptly ending (no way to know for sure). E25 remained flat, as F23 was vocalizing warnings at the intruder, and E24 finally flattened down with E25.
There were no good views of this intruder eagle. This was an immature eagle, not an adult. There is a terminal band visible, and a lot of white on the underside. We have not had Cam1 close-up views of any of the intruders so far this season; therefore, we cannot ID any of the intruders determine whether a particular one has visited the nest tree previously this season. I included three links for plumage/aging eagles below the time stamps. Time stamps below, if interested. Click on any time stamp to advance to that part.
Note: There is no way to determine if the intruder is from this nest. I am local to SWFL, and in Florida, we have 1500+ nests. That averages to 2K +/- fledglings each season, as I have shared often on these videos. Also, this area has a dense population. Each season, we see juvenile and subadult eagles stop in here.
