Описание к видео 34067 Tangmere on 'The Christmas Devonian' - 15/12/12

Saturday 15th December saw SR Un-Rebuilt Battle Of Britain Class 4-6-2 no.34067 'Tangmere' hauling 'The Christmas Devonian', the tour would run outward from Bristol via Bath & Westbury then over the old Southern Main Line to Exeter via Honiton. The tour would then return from Exeter via Taunton & Frome then onto Westbury & Bath and back into Bristol. Ideally I would liked to have filmed on the Southern Mainline but as I don't know it very well since I was travelling by train I decided to stick to more familiar ground. We start off the day at Bath, more specifically on Bathwick Hill where there is a lovely view of the city and the railway. Tangmere is seen rounding the bend into Bath Spa Station whilst a down HST service waits to depart for the west, apologies for the rather rough sounding wind noise, I've got two covers on my microphone and it still manages to sneak its way through! Tangmere is then seen making a fine get away from Bath providing a lovely spectacle for those watching, although she didn't whistle to signal her departure, tut tut!

Our next location is Exeter St Davids Station, the terminus for this particular tour and by the time Tangmere arrived she was over 30 minutes late although this was more of a convenience rather than a hindrance to me as due to late running trains I myself was over an hour late into Exeter. I was supposed to arrive at around 12:40 but didn't get in until around 13:50. We take a quick look at WCRC Class 47 no.47500 and even the Jubilee liveried HST Powercar no.43186 who made an appearance, after which we take a look at Tangmere then watch as she takes the empty stock and 47500 away to Exeter Riverside Yard.

Moving on, to a later time where the light had nearly disappeared we come to Tiverton Parkway for the return leg of the tour and Tangmere is seen storming through with a good whistle running a good five minutes early. After Tiverton we come to a location just west from where I started the day, Oldfield Park Station which as you can see was pretty quiet when I got there but filled up nicely once Tangmere was due with both people waiting for her, and people waiting for there train to Bristol. Tangmere's can be seen in distance shortly after leaving Bath and quickly accelerates her way past us on the final stretch to Bristol and after that, I could finally call it a day and go home, a very good day out indeed but it's not over yet as for an added bonus I went out to film the ECS move from Bristol back to Southall, and for that move I decided to head to Bourton where the sun was shining brightly and 47500 & Tangmere are seen double headed running smoothly along the Great Western Main Line heading on home.

Filmed on a Panasonic HDC-HS900 with ProSound L92AA and Panasonic VW-VMS2E Microphones.

Enjoy.
