A new study has revealed that the wealthiest individuals are significantly contributing to global warming.

The top 10% of earners are responsible for 65% of the increase in global temperatures since 1990. Within this group, the top 1% account for 20%, and the ultra-elite 0.1% contribute 8%.

This isn't solely due to personal consumption. Their investments and ownership of production infrastructure also play a major role.

The consequences are severe. Regions with historically low emissions, like Southeast Asia and central Africa, are experiencing more frequent and intense heatwaves and droughts.

The study suggests that addressing this imbalance requires significant policy changes, including wealth taxes and realigning financial systems towards climate mitigation.

In essence, the actions of the wealthiest are having a disproportionate impact on the planet, affecting those who have contributed the least to the problem.
