2005 Jeep Liberty 4x4 Diagonal Test

Описание к видео 2005 Jeep Liberty 4x4 Diagonal Test

2005 jeep liberty with the stock command-trac 4X4 system doing the infamous diagonal slope test. Besides a mild suspension lift and 31" tires this is a stock liberty with a locking part-time transfer case and open differentials (for now) I am installing a locker later on in the summer and I originally took these videos as a comparison for when I get the locker installed. But by using the left foot braking technique I made this challenging obstacle look....a bit less challenging.

About the diagonal test:
The diagonal test is a true test of a vehicles power delivery and driveline capability to all 4 wheels. It places the vehicle in a difficult off chamber, high torque situation that requires a 4WD system to have to work overtime to climb up what may seem like a simple slope. This is especially challenging for a vehicle with open differentials because power is sent to the wheels with least resistance, or in this case the wheels that are up in the air. this causes the four-wheel drive to have to work harder than usual to keep the two wheels with traction moving forward. So essentially the vehicle is being pulled up an incline by one rear tire and one front tire while the other 2 spin freely. And believe it or not a lot of vehicles cannot actually complete this task because they either don't have an advanced enough all wheel drive system to properly proved the other 2 wheels with traction, or they don't have good articulation to keep the wheels on the ground to maintain set traction.

This Jeep KJ did good and shows that the bare bones minimum can be capable of many things and sometimes old school tech can walk all over any new school design with some basic skills.

Conditions to remember:

- I kept stopping the vehicle to eliminate momentum as seen in the video
- I took my time to let the 4x4 system do it's work
- the vehicle was in 4Low
- tires were at full psi
