Hi there! In this video I'll show you how to design parts with a smooth curved outer shape. This is a useful technique for many types of parts.

Let’s assume we want the outer rectangular shape of this part to be replaced by a smooth curve, as shown on the top right side of the screen. To start, let's delete the rectangular shape. Select the rectangle and click the Delete button. Now, we'll create the smooth, curved outer shape. Select the inner elements. Choose Line, Contour. Contouring creates a new, closed shape at a fixed distance from an existing shape. Check Outside and uncheck Inside. Let's enter 0.3. This is the distance from the original line to the new contour. Click OK. Now delete the lines we don't need. Click the Eraser tool. Click each line to be erased. Now let's remove these unwanted recesses. Select the smaller arc, and select the top right rounded corner of the rectangle. Choose Line, Tangents. Tangent lines are lines that smoothly meet an arc or circle. Select the larger arc, and select the bottom left rounded corner of the rectangle. Choose Line, Tangents. Now erase the lines we don't need with the Eraser tool.
