2004 MINI Cooper S R53: Replacing the PCV valve

Описание к видео 2004 MINI Cooper S R53: Replacing the PCV valve

In this video, I noticed that there was a bit of crankcase pressure on this supercharged MINI Cooper. I performed Robert DIY's rubber glove test (a well-known test in the Volvo community) and found that the pressure was enough to inflate the glove on this engine. This is not a good situation to have, as this could cause the engine's seals to leak, or worse - blow out.

Fortunately, the PCV system on this MINI is pretty straightforward, unlike white block Volvos. I found that the PCV valve was clogged, meaning it would not flow air in either direction. The two hoses in the PCV system were clear/clean.

After replacing the PCV valve, the engine passed the rubber glove test!

Tools used: 1/4-drive ratchet, universal, 8mm socket, 3" extension, rubber glove.

This is the procedure on 2002-2004 MINI Cooper and Cooper S. There was a change mid-year 2004 to the valve cover - the PCV valve on 2004.5-2006 screws directly into the valve cover.
