The heading "Scherzo. Allegro" could be taken to mean "jokingly, fast." This third movement of the Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, op. 67 illustrates conductor Paavo Järvi's interpretative approach, which he describes as "organic rather than panic." The sound he creates with the Deutsche Kammerphiharmonie Bremen has strong accents, yet it's completely natural and integrated. And despite all the many hours of rehearsals and perfectly calibrated preparation, it sounds spontaneous. Hear for yourself in this live concert recording of Beethoven's Fifth, third movement.
Deutsche Welle and Unitel Classica present Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, recorded in the Beethovenhalle Bonn in 2009.
