A couple more things I only thought of after making the whole video of course,
Don't be afraid to grab a spear as your first weapon even if you can't get a shield to go with it. As long as they do ~18+ damage they're still really good weapons on their own
It's a roguelike game at the end of the day so try to learn something from each run even if you lose. Try different options on the random events. Try different weapons. Try scary 1v8s.
Another thing to look for when you look at the fights first is insurance. Cheap/low durability weapons can give you a lot of mileage in insurance fights.
