Private Dreamers -

Описание к видео Private Dreamers -

"Private Dreamers" - an original song written in early 1999 (my notes say spring, but I remember there being snow and ice on the ground on the night I am singing about). I was out at an open mic with some friends and I was noticing some things about how they were interacting. I wrote this song on piano and have rarely played it on guitar. It's been a long time since I played it at all. I recorded this in one take tonight, in the interest of just getting it done. 😅

I'm playing my new Enya Nova U Pro tenor uke.

General project notes:
I'm sharing 100 #ukulele #practice sessions as 100 posts in 100 days, for the #100DaysUke2024 #challenge. I'm a new player (starting 11 February 2024), but I also play guitar, so skill transfer is a thing. 😜 Also, it's practice, not perfect at all. 🤣 The point is, here's proof I've been practicing!

Lyrics:

Private Dreamers

Private dreamers
Well aren't we all
Yet we con ourselves into saying
We're all alone
Well in this crowded sea
Of self-proclaimed lonely hearts
You'd think a few of them
Would find a home

I know there's someone here tonight
Standing over the one he wants
Unable or afraid to make a move
And there's someone here tonight
Who is falling for a friend
And she has so much to lose

Private dreamers
Well I confess
That's the only state that I've really
Come to know
I wish I had some advice
To pass along
But I'm as lost as any
Wandering soul

I know there's someone here tonight
Who would give up just about anything
To bring a lover into his arms
And there's someone here tonight
Who can't stand to see him reach for her
But she hasn't voiced her feelings so far

And I
I am empty
Who can fill me
Is there anyone at all
I am waiting
It seems for nothing
Only time returns my calls

Private dreamers
Maligned by day
And by Saturday nights that come cruelly
Every week
It seems your friends are all in couples
And although they include you
The prospect seems tired
And bleak

I know there's someone here tonight
Standing over the one he wants
Unable or afraid to make a move
And there's someone here tonight
Who is falling for a friend
And she has so much to lose

And I am empty
Who can fill me
Is there anyone at all
I am waiting
It seems for nothing
Only time returns my calls

Private dreamers
What can I say
