THE HERO'S DOSE - Josh Radnor

Описание к видео THE HERO'S DOSE - Josh Radnor

Been a minute since I've posted any new music. Thanks for all the love for the EP by the way. This is a song I just finished. I keep wanting to laugh when I can't quite hit the high note at the end of the chorus. Big love to all the heroic dosers out there. JR

CAPO 7

[G] What do you do when there’s [Em] nothing to do
You’ve [Am7] read every book that [D7] said it’d save you
But [G] every word looks [Em] dead on the [Am7] page [D7]
I’ve lit all the candles and said all the prayers
But I’m worried there’s nobody upstairs
So I’m drinkin and eatin my troubles away

[Am7] I feel the darkness [D7] drawing so close
I’ve [G] run out of land at the [Em] edge of the coast
In [Am7] front of me’s a demon be[D7] hind me a ghost [G – Em]
[Am7] I wanted poetry but [D7] all I got’s prose
I’m [G] clear in my head and con[Em]fused in my toes
Like [Am7] Vonnegut said [D7] “And so it [G] goes” [Em]
Might be [Am7] time
It might be [D7] time
For the hero’s [G] dose

Left on the playground with no mom around
Dad’s still at work or maybe out of town
Forty years later I still feel the fear
Trapped betweaen worlds in purgatory
Don’t wanna be a slave to my history
I thank my ancestors but I’ll take it from here

I feel the darkness drawing so close
I’ve run out of land at the edge of the coast
In front of me’s a demon behind me a ghost
I wanted poetry but all I got’s prose
I’m clear in my head and confused in my toes
Like Vonnegut said “And so it goes”
Might be time
It might be time
For the hero’s dose

I’ll take five gram crackers a cap and a gown
I’ll stop by the church at the edge of the town
And weep before Mary and confess all my sins
Then run through the graveyard where my father lies
Tell myself I am healthy wealthy and wise
And sing a song backed by twelve mandolins

I feel the darkness drawing so close
I’ve run out of land at the edge of the coast
In front of me’s a demon behind me a ghost
I’ll fly up to heaven with a heartful of hope
Rattle the gates demand that they ope
And say to the angels give me the most
Might be time
It might be time
For the hero’s dose
