ACTION ALERT‼️ (your voice matter)

ATTENTION: TVP RESIDENTS
Townhomes Promised, But Not In Writing. FOP Files Complaints with MSHDA
What Happened? Friends Of Parkside (FOP) filed two formal complaints on September 5th and September 9th with MSHDA
(Michigan State Housing Development Authority) about the Villages at Parkside - Phases I, II, III, & IV.

We took this step because Promises DHC/GDC made to residents were left out of their financing applications.

Extra waivers were granted that weaken resident protections.

your community partner for 34 years
— was not even mentioned in the applications.

Residents asked FOP to serve as their independent advocate. That's exactly what we're doing.

What Was Left Out of the Applications…
(Partial list)
X Right-to-Return Protections —
Applications still allow unfair income, credit, and criminal checks.

X Townhouse Access Guarantee - No written promise that relocated families get townhomes.

X Comprehensive Relocation Plan - No binding timelines, grievance process, or guaranteed moving.

X Reserve Fund Protections
MSHDA let DHC/GDC delay setting aside money for repairs in the new
homes. No reserves is why repairs are not getting done at Parkside now.

Why This Matters:
• It protections aren't written into the financing documents, they don't have to happen.

Phase I sets the tone for all future phases. If protections aren't secured now, it will be harder later.

Residents deserve guarantees, not just verbal promises.

Friends of Parkside's Commitment
For 34 years, FOP has been a trusted, resident-led advocate at Parkside.

We are here to: Protect resident rights, Ensure your voice is heard, Hold agencies accountable.

But right now, DHC says it's evicting FOP because of an MOU with the Resident Council (RC). The RC bylaws require at least 10% of residents present at a Resident Council to approve an MOU, if not, then the MOU is not valid.

This eviction is really because FOP is standing firm (and 10 toes down) as your independent advocate and making sure your rights are protected.

If you want FOP to continue servicing as your trusted advocate and service provider, it is important for residents to get involve and stand up with us.
