The closing track of Dark Tranquillity's album We Are the Void, redone using PC98 FM synth instruments (more specifically, that used by ZUN in the first five Touhou games).

Incoming long description explaining why, how, and what's next:

Why? I've been a listener of Dark Tranquillity for a few years now and love a number of the tracks from their Fiction and We Are the Void albums. Between listening to that and Touhou music, I eventually got the strange idea that some of DT's songs might translate well into ZUN's instrumentation (at least as far as melodic death metal goes). Listening to some PC98 covers of Windows Touhou games gave me the final boost of inspiration to find a way to make music in that style, and, well, this is my first test of the method. (As for why the Utsuho images, I wanted to use Touhou images with kind of a fiery/cosmic theme to match the topic of the song, and it so happens that she has a significant corner in that fanart market).

How? Well, by perhaps a somewhat unorthodox method: instead of utilizing the more typical ways of making chiptune music (which I don't have a good handle on as of yet), I recorded samples from a number of tracks from Touhous 2-5 and aligned them in Sony Vegas (following more the YTPMV technique of music making). From a technical standpoint it's not accurate to what the original system could do (attentive ears may notice that I used way more than 6 FM "channels"), but the end result turned out exactly how I wanted it to.

What's next? Probably more covers of various songs if the inspiration continues (more Dark Tranquillity is on the list, along with a variety of other artists and potential Windows Touhou tracks; and yes, I am open to requests :D )
