Portuguese sardines, I call them sardines XL, because they're much bigger than the sardines we're used to. Bigger and much saltier. The salty taste is concentrated in the skin though, so if you get rid of the skin these sardines are really not too salty after all. They got much flavor and they're great with boiled potatoes. And with Vinho Verde, a wine specialty from the North, light bodied and high in acidity, very refreshing.
