As you stroll along the ancient wooden planks, you cannot help but feel a connection to the past and the generations of people who have crossed this historic bridge before you. Then a short distance away is the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, which were secondary palace suites of Silla. The palace, along with other secondary palaces, were used as the eastern palace where the prince lived, and banquets were held during auspicious events or to welcome important guests. You can also walk through the traditional villages with the hanok-style homes, see modern street art and lest you forget to visit the Daereungwon Tomb Complex, literally translated Daereungwon means "Heavenly Horse." During the excavation in 1973, the archeologists found patterns of a horse on saddle flaps that had been buried with the King Michu giving the complex it's name. For a quick snack between sites or at the end of the day, don't forget to try the Gyeongyu Famous Bread. Gyeongyu will not disappoint for a historic visit or getting away from the "hustle and bustle" of Seoul or Busan. Transportation to Gyeongyu is simple and easy.
