WALKING STICK IDEAS. WOODCARVING A HERRINGBONE PATTERN

Описание к видео WALKING STICK IDEAS. WOODCARVING A HERRINGBONE PATTERN

Today we make a patterned walking stick or cane. I cut a highly figured cherry blank into 1/2" pieces and glued them together to form a herringbone pattern. It makes an incredible weave when all shaped. I show all the steps to create it, then make a transition piece from butternut and Iroko, then attach it to a maple stick. There is a carbide tip at the base.
I then stain the base dark to match the cherry and use Teak oil on the stick. A final coat of beeswax and buffed to a nice shine.
Hope you enjoy the process and let me know what you think of the woodcarving.
Thanks for watching.
