The soloist of the band, Victor Tsoy, is a national Soviet/Russian artist, probably the most beloved one. This live was recorded just several months before his death. He died in 1990 because of an automobile accident. He was 28. Nowadays people still listen to his songs, sing them, write and record covers. There is a well-known phrase “Tsoy is alive”, which means that his songs will always live inside our hearts. By the way, his photo is on my profile’s picture)

Footnote: actually, the line I’ve translated as ”You welcome the dawn while playing cards.” originally names one exact card game called “Durak”, which translates as “The Fool”, where the looser should be called a fool (that was pretty obvious, hah). I couldn’t find any proper English name for the game (seems like the game isn’t popular in English-speaking countries, while it’s one of the most popular ones in Russia) and I was not sure that foreigners can understand what “Durak” actually means, so I left it like this. Anyways, I just wanted to say that when you play that game alone you’ll finish it being a fool one way or another. Sad, as the whole song :).
