Don Cherry Live (Rare Footage) - Multikulti (Birdland, BBC Studio recording, circa 1991)

I'm happy to announce that I finally recovered the original tape, so now there's video to complement the audio that I posted earlier. The quality could be better. Apologies for the first 2 minute - the intro audio was taken straight from the VHS, which has atrocious quality. I inserted the better audio version that I recorded separated as soon as I could (circa 1:50). It's still not amazing, but good enough. I find it personally the best and most inspiring live performance I've watched of Don Cherry (despite the melodica). It's certainly much better than the Multikulti album (1990) that is a little too overproduced. The same goes for the Peter Apfelbaum and the Hieroglyphics album - Signs of Life (1991), from which one of the tracks is taken. Below are the details I posted earlier with minor edits.

This is the full audio recording from an old performance by Don Cherry on a jazz show that played on BBC back in the day, called Birdland. It featured a few of the then contemporary jazz artists like Ornette Coleman, Steve Coleman, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, among others (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2247215/).

Cherry gave here what I think is his best performance from the Multikulti era, despite the poor quality of the audio and the out-of-tune melodica that he loved playing for an unknown reason. Especially refreshing were the combination of keys with acoustic instruments as well as Peter Apfelbaum's playing of both the piano and tenor sax.
