My preferred set up for growing orchids, is 100% leca in a self watering set up. In summer I have very hot and dry air to contend with, and I do not use any humidifiers etc to supplement the dry air. I grow 80% of my collection outside from the months of March - November, and only sporadically bring my collection inside as and when needed, So, when is water culture an option for growing my orchids, and which ones? In this video, I briefly touch on the subject of water culture, advantages and disadvantages of this growing method. During the video, I discover a problem with my Rhyncostylis, so... plans changed.
