If you want to play this pre-release, choose the "Snapshots" profile in your launcher. Keep in mind that snapshots are unstable - they can break your world if you are unlucky - keep backups!

Changes in this version:

Blocks/items:
Trapdoors/buttons/pressure plates for all wood types
Pumpkin and carved pumpkin spliy
Pumpkins carved using shears
Pumpkin seeds come out the face when sheared
Pumpkins and derivatives as well as fence gates no longer require solid blocks to be placed - via
Petrified oak slabs

Old 'Smooth Sandstone' is now 'Cut Sandstone'
'Monster Egg blocks' are now 'Infested blocks', break instantly
Blocks with a collision box now have matching bounding boxes
Updated the collision box of anvils and hoppers

Chests can now be placed next to each other

Huge mushroom stem blocks can now be silk touched
All 3 normal variants are available from the creative inventory
When matching mushroom blocks are placed next to each other, the touching sides permanently receive the pore texture
"Smooth" variants of double slabs, "bark" variants of logs now in the creative inventory
Grass path and farmland are now in the creative inventory

Beds now pop off when their support blocks are removed

Activating levers now produces redstone particles
Blocks which used to have no bottom texture now have a bottom texture
Noteblocks can now be moved with pistons
Fixed iron trapdoors staying open when they or their power source is moved away

Blocks and items only different by data value are now listed separately in statistics

"Debug stick" added, cycles between blockstates and their values.

New backup functionality on a world's edit screen. Saves zip file

Added a firework recipe with fade (firework star + dyes)
Fixed shapeless recipes not being be craftable using named or enchanted ingredients

Technical:
Removed data values from everywhere
Removed item aux values from everywhere
World format has changed
"the flattening"
No more id limit
Block/item types have changed (blue_wool)

Commands:
Implemented command suggestions for blocks and item arguments
Added an option (in Chat Settings) to toggle automatic command suggestions
Fixed tab completion not changing the case of characters typed
Fixed using a space to complete the command adding 2 spaces
Fixed /gamerule not working
Fixed /tellraw not working
Fixed the /blockdata command still being present
Fixed teleporting things to Infinity / NaN not being prevented
Fixed normal players being able to use player selectors in /msg command

Fixed selectors and scoreboards not working for signs, /tellraw, and /title
Fixed the distance filter not working in gameLoopFunction

Fixed /setblock not updating blocks needing support and certain powered states
Fixed redstone lamps and wire updating whether they are lit or not when setblocked
Fixed being unable to use block states in /give, /clear and /replaceitem

Fixed using /trigger the first time on a player giving a score of 0 without updating the scoreboard display
Fixed some scoreboard desync involving 0 scores
Fixed getting "Unknown score holder" when using the placeholder * in some commands
Fixed /scoreboard players get not working for read-only objectives
Fixed being unable to add 0 to a player’s score

Fixed datapack order not persisting after the world is closed
Fixed /datapack disable not refreshing advancements for player
Fixed functions, advancements and loot tables allowing other filetypes than .mcfunction and .json
