Sound conditioning with our current crew!

By playing sounds that are often triggering to dogs from a phone or computer during downtime, we can desensitize them to common (or uncommon) noises so they can build their coping skills and learn to stay neutral. Instead of fleeing, panicking, or reacting we have them hold a known command (place).

Only calm behavior is rewarded, otherwise we give them space while they work through stress or correct/reset if they come off of their spot. This stationary position is much like meditation practice in humans as it calms the mind by initially calming the body. Dogs are given time to regulate their nervous system response and adjust to triggering noises. This can prepare them for real-world situations so they can stay calm and relaxed even around new sudden or loud sounds.
