Crossing a flooded creek with our off-road Urban caravan

Описание к видео Crossing a flooded creek with our off-road Urban caravan

During our Easter road trip we came across a creek that had a rather dodgy looking entrance and exit - due to silt and sand build up while this creek was flooded during the wet season. We ended up camping the night near by then early in the morning prepped the caravan and Land Cruiser for the creek crossing, fully expecting to pull out the winch. Tyre pressures down on both tow vehicle and towed vehicle, air bag suspension up to keep the caravan high and dry, pre walked the crossing to check for firmness and drop-offs.
We found our 12,000 lb winch struggled with the two dead weights so luckily we had enough winch extension straps, winch rope do use a swivel block and double the pulling power. Max tracks thrown in also to make it a bit easier on the winching operation, resulting in a successful car and van recovery.
PS. the night before we watched another couple come to the river from the other side, then reverse their car and caravan back up the hill to take the long way around as 'there is no way we will be crossing that river'.
