Описание к видео What the world can learn from prisons in Africa | Alexander McLean | TEDxKamitiPrison

In 2004, Alexander McLean was volunteering in a hospital in Kampala, Uganda when he helped treat a group of prisoners from Luzira Upper Prison. Alexander was shocked that the patients were chained to their beds, with no opportunity for sanitation. This visit led Alexander to start African Prisons Project, and through his work he was given the nickname "prisoner by choice".

Alexander McLean is the founder of African Prisons Project, a Uganda-based organization working to improve the lives of men, women, and children living in African prisons through healthcare, education, access to justice and community reintegration.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
