Dr Maran says that the panic on coronavirus is due to social media and the more highlight by conventional media too. He says the disease caused by Coronavirus is termed as Covid-19 and that it has spread from animals to humans (zoonotic). He simply asks people to take precautions and not panic. Dr Maran emphasizes that the two best places to look for information and guidelines on Coronavirus are the WHO website and the Government websites.

Symptoms like running nose, or fever do not show in some even though they are infected with Coronavirus which is a challenge. Dr Maran says that there is currently no vaccine or specific treatment for these diseases but the drug used to treat HIV is working. Dr Maran then talks about the following precautions that need to be taken to avoid getting infected with Coronavirus.

1) Avoid travel, places where public gather, closed areas like a mall, cinema,

2) Avoid touching face after coming from outside. Do not bring hands above the neck level. Always wash hands. If sanitizer is present good but if it is not present normal soap and water is sufficient.

3) Keep a safe distance of 2m from another human.

4) Keep yourself well hydrated.

5) No herbal things are going to work. Do not believe anything that comes on social media.
