After years of highs and lows that included depression, extreme weight fluctuations and being diagnosed bipolar, Phyllis was scheduled to perform with the Whispers at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem New York on Friday, June 30, 1995. Although she had been looking forward to the concert, as her birthday on July 6 was fast approaching, she had a tendency to get depressed around this period. She had a conversation with a friend a day before the concert where she related her feelings and that signified she was going through emotional challenges. She apparently decided to end it all on this particular day as she could cope no more. This video presentation is in memory of the wonderful and unforgettable Phyllis Hyman who we miss dearly.
