Connecting West and East: Indian Ocean Security and the US Indo-Pacific Strategy

Описание к видео Connecting West and East: Indian Ocean Security and the US Indo-Pacific Strategy

The security of the Indian Ocean is increasingly commanding attention and raising questions about the role of the region in the US Indo-Pacific Strategy. It is not yet clear how Washington will address issues of strategic competition and non-traditional security across the entire Indian Ocean. In October 2024, the East-West Center in Washington organized a special Asia Pacific Bulletin series to understand the views of scholars from across the region—western (Madagascar and Seychelles), central (Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka), and eastern (Indonesia and Thailand) Indian Ocean—about their countries’ outlooks toward Indian Ocean security and the US Indo-Pacific Strategy.
