The LDH is a short form for
“Lactate DeHydrogenase ”,
Also abbreviated LD
A lab test to measure the level of LDH enzyme in the blood.
Because LDH enzyme is found nearly in all living cells, it’s used for screening tissue damage which happen acutely such as in traumatic injury, or occurs chronically (prolonged pain) such as in liver disease and some anemias, or progressive conditions such as HIV AIDS virus and muscular dystrophy.
