The fanmade HD remaster of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link has been updated quite a bit since I did a Sunday Longplay of it last year, with the biggest update being the addition of a built-in randomizer! I wanted to wait until I was more familiar with all the added content before doing this, but I think I'm ready now.

I've been looking for ways to spice up my randomizer series for the last week of the month, and I think this could be what I need to spice up my Zelda 2 randomizers on the last Wednesday of the month - playing the remaster instead of the original.

The randomizer for the fan remaster has many features that the OG NES randomizer doesn't, including Keysanity (which works like the same option in the ALTTP Randomizer where keys to the different dungeons are included in the item shuffle and scattered all over the world), shuffling palace and Great Palace enemies into the overworld (good luck fighting a random encounter of Fokkas!), shuffling bosses across different dungeons (for example, fighting Horsehead in the Palace On The Sea, or fighting Carock in Parapa Palace, though Thunderbird, Dark Link and Ganon in the 2nd quest will not be randomized from the Great Palace or Dragmire Tower).

There are also options in the game to randomize the game music between the OG and various remixes (some of them remixes of songs from other Zelda games), and though the entire map isn't randomized like it can be in the NES Zelda 2 randomizer, you can randomize the environments that each section contains (so what would normally be a desert could now be a graveyard, or what would normally be a grassland could now be lava).

There are also 34 different player sprites to choose from, many of which are not included in the NES randomizer. So if you ever wanted to play Zelda 2 as Marth, Rygar, Wario, Mipha, or CD-i Zelda from Wand of Gamelon, now you can! For this run I chose the unnamed Succubus Hunter from a PC game called Midnight Castle Succubus (which I also have previously played on this channel).

Friday - ALTTP (Karafruit)
Saturday - Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest
