Smilosuchus: One Of The Largest Amphibious Predators Before The Dinosaurs

Описание к видео Smilosuchus: One Of The Largest Amphibious Predators Before The Dinosaurs

Smilosuchus was a semi-aquatic reptile from the Late Triassic Period. Despite its similar appearance to crocodilians, it belonged to the clade Phytosauria, who had converged upon a crocodilian-like appearance and ecology long before the crocodilians themselves evolved. Smilosuchus consisted of three species: Smilosuchus adamanensis, Smilosuchus lithodendrorum, and Smilosuchus gregorii, each of which filled a different niche. With a length between seven to twelves meters, Smilosuchus gregorii was one of the largest phytosaurs.
