Hey, it’s Andy, and today we’re exploring the J Rockett Blue Note Select—the revamped version of their much-loved low-gain overdrive. I’m putting it through its paces on the Victory Sheriff 25 (hot-rodded Plexi tones) and the Fender Deluxe Reverb (clean amp), using a Strat, Les Paul Junior, and even a baritone guitar.

This isn’t just another transparent overdrive. Sure, it’s subtle when you need it to be, but crank the Fat knob and switch on the Hot Switch, and it transforms into a thick, aggressive, vintage rock machine. What makes this pedal stand out is how well all the controls interact. The Tone knob and Fat knob work together, giving you control over low-end girth without losing clarity.

Whether you’re playing blues, rock, or even looking for some synth-like fuzz tones, the Blue Note Select delivers. It sounds just as good on clean amps as it does pushing a dirty one. I couldn’t find a single setting I didn’t like—and trust me, I tried.
