Yeast Washing and Harvesting 101 for Home Brewing

Yeast washing can be a way to save some money in homebrewing. Harvesting the yeast from a homebrew is easy and doesn’t take a lot of time. Washing yeast can take about 1 hour to complete but could set you up with 3 jars of washed yeast to use on your next brew day. In today’s homebrew video we will go over how to wash yeast. We will be yeast washing wpl001. This yeast is from my Northern Brewer Dead Ringer. The process for yeast washing starts when you have your home brew out of the carboy and only have a little bit of the beer left and the yeast. Once you have washed your yeast you can use this yeast to make starts.
