High above the treeline at nearly 4000 meters, Munsyari reveals a world unlike any other.
In this video, we begin our birding journey at 4 AM, trekking towards Zero Point – Khaliya Top, surrounded by the crisp Himalayan air and the first light touching the mighty Panchachuli peaks.

Here, amidst the alpine meadows and rocky slopes, I was fortunate to witness one of the most special high-altitude birds — the Snow Partridge (Lerwa lerwa) — at a remarkably close distance. Along the way, I also share insights about other fascinating members of the Phasianidae family found in the Munsyari region, including monals, koklass, and tragopans that thrive in these rugged Himalayan habitats.

This video captures not just the birds, but the spirit of Uttarakhand’s high-altitude birding — raw, peaceful, and breathtakingly beautiful.
