Τίτλοι τέλους για τον ΑΗΣ Καρδιάς

Πέντε λεπτά πριν από τα μεσάνυχτα της Τετάρτης 5ης Μαϊου 2021, ο Γρηγόρης Τσαλιάνης, διευθυντής του ΑΗΣ Καρδιάς Κοζάνης, δίνει εντολή στον μηχανικό λειτουργίας του σταθμού και ακολούθως στους χειριστές της νυκτερινής βάρδιας, που είναι στο κοντρόλ ελέγχου της μονάδας IV του παλαιότερου εν ζωή εργοστασίου παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας από λιγνίτη της ΔΕΗ, να προχωρήσουν στην άμεση μείωση του φορτίου και στο σβήσιμο της μονάδας.
Το συγκρότημα του ΑΗΣ Καρδιάς, μετά 47 χρόνια αδιάκοπης λειτουργίας, περνάει στην ενεργειακή ιστορία της χώρας. Τα μεσάνυχτα της Τετάρτης ολοκληρώθηκαν οι 32.000 ώρες λειτουργίας που είχαν δοθεί στον σταθμό προκειμένου να λειτουργεί κατά παρέκκλιση, ώστε να εξυπηρετεί όχι μόνο τις ενεργειακές ανάγκες της χώρας, αλλά κατά κύριο λόγο τις ανάγκες τηλεθέρμανσης του Δήμου Εορδαίας, που λάμβανε θερμικό φορτίο 100 MW από τις μονάδες III και IV του εργοστασίου.

Ο ΑΗΣ Καρδιάς είναι η δεύτερη λιγνιτική μονάδα που απέκτησε η ΔΕΗ έπειτα από εκείνη του ΑΗΣ Πτολεμαΐδας και η λειτουργία του συνδέθηκε με την ολοκλήρωση του εξηλεκτρισμού της χώρας, την ενεργειακή αυτονομία και τη βιομηχανική ανάπτυξη της Ελλάδας. Το 1975, σε μια περιοδεία του στην Κοζάνη, ο τότε πρωθυπουργός Κωνσταντίνος Καραμανλής περιηγήθηκε στις νεότευκτες εγκαταστάσεις και στα κοντρόλ λειτουργίας του σταθμού με τις δύο μονάδες που είχε κατασκευάσει η γαλλική Alsthom και για την εποχή θεωρούνταν από τις πλέον σύγχρονες στη λιγνιτική βιομηχανία της Ευρώπης.

Η μονάδα Ι, ισχύος 300 MW, τέθηκε σε λειτουργία το 1974 και έπαυσε τη λειτουργία της στις 13 Ιουνίου 2019, η μονάδα ΙΙ, ισχύος 300 MW, τέθηκε σε λειτουργία το 1975 και έπαυσε τη λειτουργία της στις 25 Ιουνίου 2019.

Η μονάδα ΙΙΙ, ισχύος 306 MW, τέθηκε σε λειτουργία το 1980 και έπαυσε να λειτουργεί στις 18 Απριλίου 2021 και η μονάδα IV, ισχύος 306 MW, που τέθηκε σε λειτουργία το 1981, έπαυσε να λειτουργεί τα μεσάνυχτα της 5ης Μαΐου 2021.


Έχει αποφασιστεί η αποσυναρμολόγηση των μονάδων και η κατεδάφιση αυτών, μετά το 2024.

End credits for SPP (Steam Power Plant) Kardias

Five minutes before midnight on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, Grigoris Tsalianis, director of AIS (SPP) Kardias Kozani, gives an order to the station's operation engineer and then to the operators of the night shift, who are in control of unit IV of the oldest living plant lignite electricity generation of PPC, to immediately reduce the load and switch off the unit.

The Kardias SPP complex, after 47 years of uninterrupted operation, is going down in the energy history of the country. At midnight on Wednesday, the 32,000 hours of operation that had been given to the station were completed in order for it to operate by derogation, in order to serve not only the energy needs of the country, but primarily the district heating needs of the Municipality of Eordaia, which received a thermal load of 100 MW from the units III and IV of the factory.

The Kardias SPP (Steam Power Plant) is the second lignite unit acquired by PPC after the Ptolemaidas SPP and its operation was linked to the completion of the country's electrification, energy autonomy and the industrial development of Greece. In 1975, during a tour of Kozani, the then Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis toured the newly built facilities and the operation controls of the station with the two units that had been built by the French Alsthom and for the time were considered among the most modern in the lignite industry in Europe.

Unit I, with a capacity of 300 MW, was commissioned in 1974 and ceased operation on 13 June 2019, Unit II, with a capacity of 300 MW, was commissioned in 1975 and ceased operation on 25 June 2019.
Unit III, 306 MW, commissioned in 1980, ceased operation on 18 April 2021, and Unit IV, 306 MW, commissioned in 1981, ceased operation at midnight on 5 May 2021.

According to data from the archive of the Kardia SPP, the steam power plant, from the day the first unit was in operation and for 47 years without interruption, set a record in the production of electricity, with 293.465 GWh, while approximately 543,452 were needed for fuel. 059 tons of lignite. At its peak, in the mid-1980s until 1994, it employed 1,200 workers

It has been decided to dismantle the SPPs and demolish them after 2024.
