Heroin worth Rs 14 lakh seized, 2 arrested in Diphu

194 grams of heroin worth Rs 14 lakh was seized from Diphu in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday. The accused, Jusnara Begum and Abdus Salam were allegedly carrying the contraband in 15 soap cases in an autorickshaw.
As per the accused, two persons from Dimapur handed them the drugs. They were caught at a special checkpoint led by several officers at Panbari Forest Gate.
An offiicial said, “We had information that someone would carry drugs from Dhansiri to Howraghat today. While we were checking the vehicles, we found an auto where we checked the bags of the passengers and found 15 soap cases with suspected brown sugar in Jusnara Begum’s handbag. She is a permanent resident of Diphu but has been living in Dhansiri of Dimapur. There was another person with her whose name is Abdus Salam who is originally from Karimganj but has been living in Dimaka. They were traveling to Howraghat and two persons from Dimapur handed the drugs to the lady."
