Humans and technology are inextricably intertwined. Since we picked up the first stone, humans have used technology to shape and survive in the world around us. We have even built technology to carry us physically and virtually beyond that world. Now, we are re-imagining the relationship between humans and technology. Through advances in neural engineering and neuromuscular interfaces, we can create direct links between humans and technology. Through digital links any human can extend their capability and presence to any remote robotic, or avatar system. Through sensory links, they can pick up an object or operate an instrument or hold another's hand thousands of miles away as though they are standing next to them. With this year’s theme, Convergence, this panel will explore the latest innovations, the potential transformation of the future, and the ethics of the human-centered, symbiotic relationships between humans and technology.
