Swarm season is always an exciting and busy time for beekeepers. Early spring is when we see the biggest swarms, but we can also experience massive swarms later in the season due to environmental influences.

Loads of pollen stores combined with prolonged rain can result in a population explosion within a hive. With the bees couped up and unable to fly due to rainy weather, there is less natural attrition, and bees live longer.

This video demonstrates how to catch a swarm of honey bees by finding and caging the queen. This guarantees that the swarm will not abscond because they will not abandon the caged queen.
