Let us see which planets are malefic, which planets are benefic and which are neutral for Virgo Ascendants.

Mercury is lord of ascendant and 10th house for Virgo Ascendants. 1st house is both a Kendra place and a Trine place. 10th is most important Kendra. Hence as lord of both 1st and 10th, Mercury is a Benefic for Virgo Ascendants and a Raja Yoga Karaka.

Venus lord of both 2nd and 9th houses. 9th house is most important Trine place. It dominates all other houses on the horoscope. Hence Venus, as 9th house lord gives good results though he is lord of 2nd house and becomes maraka on account of 2nd house lordship. As 9th lordship overrules lordship of other evil houses, Venus gives good results for Virgo ascendants and a Benefic for them. Virgo ascendants experience good results during Venus Major / Minor periods.

Virgo ascendants experience evil results from most of the other planets.

Mars is lord of 3rd and 8th house for Virgo Ascendants. 3rd house is an evil house and 8th is a neutral house. As Mars is not ruling any benefic house, he gives evils results only. He is malefic for Virgo Ascendants.

Saturn is lord of 5th and 6th houses for Virgo Ascendants. 5th house is a good house and 6th house is an evil house. Hence Saturn will be neutral for Virgo Ascendants and gives good/bad results based on placement, aspects, conjunctions. Astrologer should decide accordingly.

Moon is lord of 11th house. He is malefic for Virgo Ascendant as due to 11th lordship, he becomes Badhaka (pain inflicting) planet for Virgo Ascendants.

Sun is lord of 12th house, which is also an evil house. He does not own any other benefic house. Hence, he gives bad results in the areas of significance to the 12th house like expenditure, hospitalization, losses etc. However, if he is 12th itself, he gives rise to Vipareeta Raja Yoga. Overall, Sun is malefic for Virgo Ascendants.

Jupiter owns both 4th and 7th house for Virgo Ascendants. Jupiter is a natural benefic. However, due to ‘ Kedradipathya Dosham’ as detailed by Sage Parasara, he becomes evil owning two Kendra houses and gives evil results to Virgo Ascendants. Hence, he is neutral for Virgo Ascendants. However, if Jupiter is in his own house, he forms ‘Hamsa’ Maha Purusha Yoga and gives good results.

To sum up, for Virgo Ascendants, Mercury and Venus are Benefic. Sun, Moon, Mars are Malefic. Saturn and Jupiter are neutral planets. Venus and Jupiter are maraka planets due to 2nd and 7th ownership respectively. Hence, Virgo Ascendants should be careful in health issues in Venus and Jupiter Major / Minor periods to avoid any sudden health complications.
