I can't believe baby boy is already 6 months old!! We finally introduced solids for the first time! We decided that baby led weaning is a good route for our family.

Here is my little baby boy having his first food and what better way to start finger food than with a Mango!

What is baby led weaning ?

Baby led weaning is letting your child feed themselves from the very start of weaning. You just hand them the food in a suitably-sized piece and if they like it they eat it and if they don't they won't. No purees, no ice cube trays, no food processor, no potato masher, no baby rice, no fruit and veg combos just you and your child, eating your normal family food.

Some Extra Information :

When is a baby ready to start BLW?
When Baby can balance in the Tripod position/ can sit for at least a few seconds, shows interest in food and has lost tongue thrust.

What are some good first foods?
Anything! BLW is about eating what the family eats....ofcourse as a precaution I am starting on softer and mushier foods, like Mango, Steamed Apple, Aloo Fries, Steamed Gobhi, Steamed Carrots, etc. Basically food that can be easily squished between fingers.

Aren't you scared of baby choking?!
Ofcourse I am, but chocking can happen even while feeding purees and mashed food. What's important is to know the difference between gagging and choking, and how to react to both.
