In this video, Lance with MY4SONS explains how to care for your M4 battery and all aspects of electrical use of your M4.

When you first get your battery, make sure all of the J2 terminals are bent at least 15 degrees off of the surface of the battery so they can make contact with the spring plates. Push down on the battery tab door and push your battery inside and secure by adding the battery door.

With the battery in place, test the switches to make sure the battery contact is sufficient. Take note of the voltmeter lights to make sure they are red and green.

Make sure your unit is off during charging and you can ensure the battery is off when there are no voltmeter lights engaged.

Never plug an AC plug into the port of the charger as it will damage the system. If the charger box is amber or green then that is a sign the charger is good. If the charger is red then that means your charger has expired. You will know if the unit is completely charged when you see a green light on the charger. A flashing light is an indication there is something wrong with the battery of the unit.
