Automated sanding of aircraft wings with FerRobotics orbital sander

Описание к видео Automated sanding of aircraft wings with FerRobotics orbital sander

The Active Orbital Kit 601 (AOK) from FerRobotics, a three headed robotic sander, is perfect for automated sanding tasks of large surfaces. One application is the automated sanding of aircraft wings. With its integrated Active Compliant Technology (ACT) the AOK/601 ensures a constant force during the sanding process and thus guarantees the best possible surface treatment. This is crucial for modern aircraft coatings. ACT compensates changing gravity conditions, as well as surface tolerances and vibrations of the extended robot arm automatically. The possibility to switch from forced eccentric mode to free eccentric mode allows either a higher material removal or a perfect finish. Together with the sanding head an corresponding abrasive changing station, also developed by FerRobotics, is used.

3 heads are better than one
You need to know that this Active Compliant Technology solution has additional functions: The eccentric rotation mode can be switched from free-run (random) mode to forced rotation mode and the gimbal unit allows adapting flexibly to the surface by some degrees.

Benefit of the Active Orbital Kit HD:
A perfect end of arm tool for large surfaces that can do heavy material removal (f.e. filler sanding with forced mode) and surface finishing (paintwork preparation with free-run mode)

Ideally combined with a paper changing station for the perfect workflow.

Sanding and Polishing of large surfaces like planes, windmills, railway vehicles, busses or ship bodies needs to be automated like this. Robotic grinding, sanding and polishing instead of costly manual work processes.

Benefits:
Much faster
Higher quality
Less abrasive consumption
Less overall costs

Automated sanding tasks of large surfaces (like aircraft wings or fuselage) is a job for experts. Set up a highly efficient and fast process thanks to a three headed robotic sander. Benefit from long lifetime and a consistent surface pattern.

Active Compliant Technology ensures a constant force during the sanding process and thus guarantees the best possible surface treatment. This is crucial for modern aircraft coatings.

And with the right abrasive our customers experienced an additional reduction in the overall process costs.
