On this day in 1957 John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time, as teenagers at Woolton Fete. Here’s a bit of Beatlemania from 1964.

The Beatles returned early Saturday morning, from their American tour, to the screams of thousands of teenagers. Some had waited all night at London Airport to see this famous foursome.
