On July 23rd, we held a Jus Mundi Academic Network event. Our Academic Network is a non-commercial, self-steering, and unbiased group of the world's leading academics in international arbitration.

They come together to discuss pressing issues and provide insights on the latest developments in the field. This time, they exchanged on how arbitration is evolving to address the climate crisis, including renewable energy initiatives, methods for computing damages during the fossil fuel phase-out, balancing economic rights with environmental regulations, with a focus on carbon trading in national climate strategies; and integrating human rights obligations into commercial arbitration.

The lineup of speakers included:

Wendy Miles KC of Twenty Essex
Marnix Leijten of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek
Isabel San Martín of LALIVE
Dr. Hab. Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz of GESSEL Attorneys at law
Jessica Crow, an Independent Arbitrator

The session was also moderated by our very own Vice-President of Global Legal Data, Alexandre Vagenheim.
