‘Audio Bloopers’ is meant to be a fun and alert live track. Started again as a jam session with instruments layered on top of each other, this song is probably the fasted song we wrote, from this record. We tried to implement an ‘out of the box' approach in this song; namely, having the bass as the driving element of the melody, and of the track itself. You can notice the bass line changing from section to section and also, you can identify how the other components of the track are built in such a way to support the bass track. Everything that you hear as far as bass, drums, guitars and pads are concerned, was recorded in one take. Given that this song originated in a jam session, the scratches originally recorded were obviously not as tight as you can hear them now. If the song was going to make it in the album, we thought we must give it some sort of a message, be it a light one. This is where Seb found the old BBC-style vocal recordings, which fit the song like a glove. The scratches you now hear are not meant to be heavy in content; they should be viewed, let’s say more like the coating of the track. That is why classic scratch samples made their way into the track. Still, the idea of audio bloopers in old school radio and TV sound recordings had to be preserved.
