I found an interesting automatic perpetual calendar mechanism that shows the day of the month and the month of the year on two dials, and just had to recreate it in LEGO.

The core of this mechanism is a lever that falls a certain distance based on the length of the current month, and if the day has just been advanced to the day after the last day of the current month, the action of the lever resets the day to 1 and advances to the next month. The lengths of each month of encoded by a gear with 12 chain links wrapped around it, and pegs placed into the holes on the chain, which limit the movement of the advance lever.
